Texas to Conduct Full Forensic Audit of 4 Counties' Election Results, SOS Confirms
TX Secretary of State's office announces bombshell audits of 2020 election
Texas will conduct a full forensic audit of the 2020 election results in four counties, the TX Secretary of State's office has announced.
The bombshell announcement came just hours after President Donald Trump called on Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) back a bill to carry out an election audit in the Lone Star State.
"Despite my big win in Texas, I hear Texans want an election audit!” Trump said.
"You know your fellow Texans have big questions about the November 2020 Election.
“Let's get to the bottom of the 2020 Presidential Election Scam!”
"A full and comprehensive forensic audit” is underway in Dallas, Harris, Tarrant, and Collin counties, the secretary of state's office said.
Democrat Joe Biden won in Dallas, Harris, and Tarrant counties, while Trump carried Collin County.
Democrats immediately decried the announcement, according to The Hill.
“Let me be the first to congratulate the disgraced former president, Donald Trump, on his apparently becoming the new governor of Texas,” state House Democratic Caucus Chairman Chris Turner (D) said on Twitter.
“Pitiful yet predictable that (Abbott) has capitulated to Trump yet again.”

Republicans have launched or are attempting to launch probes into the 2020 presidential election in a number of states over allegations that voter fraud cost Trump the election.
The Texas secretary of state's office did not provide any further details about what its audit would entail.
In a statement sent to CBS Local, the SOS's office said in part:
"Under existing Texas laws, the Secretary of State has the authority to conduct a full and comprehensive forensic audit.
"We anticipate the Legislature will provide funds for this purpose."
Earlier in an open letter to Gov. Abbott, Trump revealed he has backed House Bill 16(PDF) that calls for a “review of the results of the 2020 general election.”
“Bills to audit elections in your great state’s House and Senate were considered during Texas’ Second Special Session,” said President Trump.
"Instead, the legislature passed a watered-down amendment that doesn’t even apply to the 2020 Presidential Election.
"This short amendment doesn’t answer the questions Texans have about the last election.
"Texans demand a real audit to completely address their concerns.”
