Ex-Biden Adviser Praises Hack of Texas GOP Website on 9/11: It ‘Made My Day’
Jon Cooper expressed praise for the hack on Twitter
After the Texas Republican Party website was hacked over the weekend by a group claiming to be protesting the state’s abortion law, former Biden and Obama adviser Jon Cooper expressed praise for the hack.
Cooper wrote on Twitter on the anniversary of the September 11 attacks:
"It made my day."
Cooper served as Long Island campaign chairman for Obama and as national finance chairman for Draft Biden 2016.
Texas Public Radio reported that a Rick Astley music video, a lewd photograph, and a statement claiming the state’s Republicans were trying to take away women’s rights were added to the website.
"Texas: Taking voices from women to promote theocratic erosion of church/state barriers," the message said, according to the news outlet.
The hackers identified themselves as "Anonymous" with a banner across the top of the page, the report said.
Texas became the first state in America to ban abortion once a fetal heartbeat is detected under the new “Heartbeat” abortion law.
The U.S. Justice Department on Thursday filed a lawsuit against Texas, claiming the state’s new law is unconstitutional.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and other Republicans have vowed to defend the new law.
"Biden should focus on fixing the border crisis, Afghanistan, the economy and countless other disasters instead of meddling in states’ sovereign rights," Paxton wrote on Twitter.
"I will use every available resource to fight for life."
Today the Biden Administration sued every individual in Texas. Biden should focus on fixing the border crisis, Afghanistan, the economy and countless other disasters instead of meddling in state’s sovereign rights.— Texas Attorney General (@TXAG) September 9, 2021
I will use every available resource to fight for life.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) blasted recent Texas pro-life law by claiming “Christian extremists” are “passing forced birth laws,” making it harder for women to abort their children.
“Christian extremists are passing forced birth laws to intimidate & cut off abortion services – including for victims of rape, incest, & child abuse."
“While we fight back, know you still have options."
