Majority of Voters Believe Biden’s Afghanistan Crisis Worse than Media Is Reporting
53% said they don't trust what the media is reporting

A majority of American voters believe the current situation in Afghanistan is far worse than the media is reporting, according to a new Rasmussen survey.
Out of 1,000 likely voters surveyed August 24-25, 2021, just 29% said they “trust what the news media are reporting about the current situation in Afghanistan."
53% said they don't trust what the media is reporting.
While 57% say, the actual state of the country is “worse than it is being portrayed in news media coverage,” just 26% say it’s “about the same” the media is portraying.
Just 11% believe the situation is better than what the media is reporting, while seven percent aren’t sure.

Democrats are more likely to believe the media narrative, which is 42%.
But they are twice as likely to say the situation is worse than reported (38%) than they are to think it’s better (17%) than what the media says.
Thirty-six percent of Democrats believe the news is accurate, and another nine percent aren’t sure.
Just 22.3% of airtime is devoted to presenting hard news on cable news, while the rest is discussion and commentary, according to the Media Research Center’s NewsBusters analysts.
Voters’ distrust of Biden's claims if Afghanistan echoes their distrust of the media as the majority (54%) said they don't believe what they're being told.
Just 34% express trust in Biden's portrayal of the situation.

But Democrats are more likely to trust the administration’s portrayal of the circumstances in Afghanistan, and just 34% say it’s actually worse than claimed.
Neon Nettle reported that Biden was accused of pushing a "lie" that "hundreds of Americans" still trapped inside Taliban-controlled Afghanistan "are deciding not to leave."
Critics slammed Biden for the false narrative amid fears that many Americans may not make the evacuations before the August 31 deadline.
During a series of missives Wednesday, the State Department revealed that hundreds of Americans are still stranded in Afghanistan waiting to be rescued.
Just 24 percent of registered American voters believe Biden's handling of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan is going "well."
According to the new Morning Consult/Politico survey, 76 percent of Americans disagree that Biden’s Afghan withdrawal is going “very well” or “somewhat well.”
