Woman Beheaded by Illegal Alien, Dumped onto Street in Broad Daylight
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) says illegal has long history of crime
The suspect who beheaded a woman with a machete in broad daylight in Minnesota is an illegal alien from Cuba who was wanted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), according to reports.
Alexis Saborit, 42, is charged with brutally murdering his 55-year-old girlfriend, America Mafalda Thayer.
Saborit executed his unarmed victim while they were sitting in traffic in suburban Minneapolis last week.
He then dumped her body on the street in full view of horrified neighbors and drove away.
Thayer's body was found at the intersection of Fourth Avenue and Spencer Street in Shakopee, Minnesota, around 2.31 pm on Wednesday, the Shakopee Police Department said in a press release.
Witnesses reported seeing Saborit in his car "swinging an object in the air and bringing it down repeatedly" while "making a hitting motion."
Police responded to calls of a violent homicide and found what was described as a "grisly" scene.
According to a search warrant obtained by KMSP, cops discovered Thayer's body lying next to a car - with her head nearby.
Saborit told police he used a machete to behead Thayer out of "self-defense."
Police confirmed Thursday that Saborit has been arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder following the death of Thayer.
Officers recovered a large knife in an alley near the scene.
The two are said to have been in a relationship with each other and police said it was "not a random act."
Thayer worked at Dollar Tree and My Pillow, where co-workers said she was allegedly abused by the suspect, KMSP reports.
Lori Stejskal and Eileen Necklen used to work with Thayer at Dollar Tree.
"A bubbly person, always smiling. Just sweet," said Necklen.
"I'm still kind of in shock," added Stejskal.
"She just loved everyone she came across," said friend Mikala Dickerson.
"It's just really hard and very traumatizing."
A very disturbing video of the man dumping the body of the woman was captured by one witness who posted it to the social media app TikTok.
A male suspect fled on foot but was captured by police a short time later about a mile and a half away from the scene.
Fox News reported that ICE spokesman Shawn Neudauer confirmed Saborit was an illegal alien from Cuba and that the agency had been unsuccessfully trying to deport him.
The revelation was first reported by the Powerline blog.
"He has pending charges for first-degree arson-dwelling, first-degree criminal damage to property, and obstruct legal process-interfere with peace officer stemming from a 2020 arrest in Scott County, Minnesota," said Neudauer.

Such an awful, senseless crime. Thinking of her friends and family ❤️ pic.twitter.com/YLSrSWviTW
One of Thayer's longtime friends told SW News Media that she was a hardworking immigrant also from Cuba.
"She was just truly the kindest to everyone," said Nicky Kendrick.
"I'm devastated, it's unreal and I just have no words."
