Federal Prosecutor Stalled Hunter Biden Investigation Until After 2020 Election
Probe delayed keeping public in the dark

The investigation into Hunter Biden's potential tax law violations was delayed by the federal prosecutor probing the case to avoid impacting the 2020 election outcome.
According to Politico, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) officials led by the U.S. attorney in the Biden family’s home state of Delaware, David Weiss, stalled the investigation, delaying search warrants and grand jury subpoenas.
Politico reported:
[Weiss] decided to delay taking any actions that were likely to make the existence of the Hunter Biden probe public. Concerns about affecting the presidential election loomed large when Weiss entertained arguments about advancing the probe, according to the person involved in the discussions. No matter what he did, the decision was sure to come under scrutiny for signs of politicization.
Weiss ultimately decided to wait to advance the investigation until after the election.

Politico noted, “They advised [Weiss] to avoid taking any actions that could alert the public to the existence of the case in the middle of a presidential election."
But other officials wishing to move forward with the probe were ignored by the U.S attorney.
Donald Trump's campaign may have been given a huge boost if the probe had become public, Politico noted.
Weiss continues to serve as Delaware’s U.S. attorney under Biden.
In 2017, Donald Trump appointed Weiss to the U.S. attorney position.
A year later, the attorney's office began investigating Hunter, which included lead to business dealings with China.
Though investigators initially wanted to probe Hunter's alleged money laundering, it later evolved into examining possible tax law violations and shady foreign business dealings.
Hunter announced he was under federal investigation for tax issues, but this was only after Biden secured his election victory.

The probe became public knowledge just weeks before the election as controversy swirled surrounding incriminating files in Hunter's laptop.
Neon Nettle reported at the time:
The laptop that allegedly belonged to Hunter Biden was abandoned at a Delaware computer repair shop in April 2019 and was found to contain e-mails about his foreign business dealings that purportedly implicate Joe Biden while he was serving as vice president.
FBI subpoena documents have revealed that the laptop was part of a "White Collar Crime" money laundering probe that was launched by the FBI’s Baltimore field office, according to a Fox News report.
The New York Post also suggested Joe lied about not knowing of Hunter's shady business dealings abroad.
The FBI also expressed concerns about Hunter's business transactions with China.
