AOC Still Silent as Her Socialist Allies Back Cuba's Communist Regime over Protesters
Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) expresses support for Cuban dictatorship
Radical Democrat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is still silent on the uprising against Cuba's communist regime, despite her socialist allies expressing support for the country's dictatorship over the protesting Cuban people.
Ocasio-Cortez is one of four members of the far-left Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) in Congress.
As the people of Cuba are rising up and demanding freedom from communism, the DSA has appeared to back the Cuban government as it attempts to silence the protesters.
Ocasio-Cortez and three other House Democrats - Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib, New York Rep. Jamaal Bowman, and Missouri Rep. Cori Bush - make up the four DSA members in Congress.
On Monday, the DSA International Committee declared its solidarity with the "Revolution" – the term used by the communist regime.
The radical-left group called the uprising a "moment of unrest."
All people have the right to protest and to live in a democratic society. I call on the Cuban government to respect opposition rights and refrain from violence. It’s also long past time to end the unilateral U.S. embargo on Cuba, which has only hurt, not helped, the Cuban people.— Bernie Sanders (@SenSanders) July 13, 2021
Sanders urged the Cuban government to "refrain from violence" while criticizing the U.S. for its embargo.
Cuba isn't the only socialist regime to receive positive treatment from the DSA.
Earlier this month, a DSA delegation met with Venezuelan socialist dictator Nicolás Maduro.
Maduro boasted of the meet by tweeting photos from the meeting.
