A petition, demanding that Jeff Bezos is denied re-entry to Earth's atmosphere after his upcoming space flight, has gone viral across social media.

Bezos, the on-off world's richest man, recently announced that he will be making the historic trip into space onboard a rocket developed by his sub-orbital aerospace company.

The Amazon founder is preparing to take the flight into orbit next month aboard the New Shephard craft developed by his Blue Origin company.

He will be flying into space alongside his brother and the anonymous winner of an online auction.

However, according to multiple petitions, many are hoping that he won't be returning to Earth.

The petitions have gathered thousands of signatures from people hoping to stop the multi-billionaire from returning home.

One such petition, started by Jose Ortiz about a week ago, has now amassed almost 15,000 signatures.

The petition, jokingly addressed to the commercial spaceflight company Blue Origin, states that “the fate of humanity is in your hands.”

Another petition which is gaining momentum with over 16,000 signatures, at the time of writing, also demands that the billionaire is barred from re-entering Earth.

The petition which was set up by a user called ‘Ric G’, states:

"Billionaires should not exist…on earth, or in space, but should they decide the latter they should stay there."

Bezos is not the first controversial billionaire to be targeted by viral petitions, however.

As Neon Nettle reported last summer, a White House petition to declare far-left billionaire George Soros a "terrorist" and seize all of his assets also went viral.

The “We the People” petition, hosted on the official White House website, calls for Soros' organizations' assets to be seized by the US Government under RICO law.

After being shared far and wide across social media, the campaign has amassed hundreds of thousands of signatures from patriots before the petition was pulled this year by the Biden administration.

The petition calls on the Department of Justice (DOJ) to “immediately declare George Soros and all of his organizations and staff members to be domestic terrorists."

It also demands that the DOJ has "all of his personal an organizational wealth and assets seized under Civil Asset Forfeiture law.”

Also last summer, a separate petition calling for billionaire Bill Gates to be investigated for "crimes against humanity" went viral on social media.

The "We the People" petition, hosted on the official White House website, calls for "Investigations Into The 'Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation' For Medical Malpractice & Crimes Against Humanity."

The campaign amassed almost 1 million signatures - almost ten times the 100,000 required to get an official response from Congress - before it was pulled this year when Joe Biden was sworn into office.

The petition asked the federal government to investigate the Microsoft co-founder and his now-estranged wife Melinda Gates, stating that "Congress and all other governing bodies are derelict in duty until a thorough and public inquiry is complete."
