TX Governor Abbott Signs Bill Promoting Patriotic Education of Texas History
The '1836 Project' is meant to benefit those who have moved to Texas

Republican Governor Greg Abbott has signed a bill creating “The 1836 Project,” which is aimed at promoting "patriotic education” about the year Texas seceded from Mexico.

The bill has now enraged the Left, who is currently pushing Critical Race Theory into schools.

According to the legislation's text, the House Bill 2497 was filed by Republican state Rep. Tan Parker on March 1 and aims to establish the Texas 1836 Project, a nine-person committee that will serve two-year terms to promote and expand education centered on the state's "foundational principles."
Abbott said in a statement before passing the law Monday:
“To keep Texas the best state in the United States of America, we must never forget why Texas became so exceptional in the first place."
The 1836 Project is also meant to benefit those who have moved to Texas from other states.
The Texas Education Agency will be required to fund the project, which will include pamphlets for new residents in the state.

But critics argued the 9 member committee could become a partisan group if elected leaders only nominate members of their respective party.
In their article for TIME Magazine, Bryan Burrough and Jason Stanford wrote an op-ed titled: We’ve Been Telling the Alamo Story Wrong for Nearly 200 Years. Now It’s Time to Correct the Record.
The left is not happy about the Alamo, and they want to correct the record.
Allen West, former US Congressman, former chairman of the Texas Republican Party, reacted to the TIME article and posted on Facebook:
It’s game on now, folks! Texans should read this article in Time and know that the progressive socialist left is disrespecting the Lone Star State. These disciples of Critical Race Theory have chosen to align themselves with a dictator rather than honor Texas history.
As I have stated, the guns are sounding, and a call to arms to defend the Texas Republic is upon us.
TIME’s jab at the favored Texas icon seems to be a part of an orchestrated plan by the far-left media allies of the Democrat Party to change history by disparaging America.
Then more attacks from the left emerged on social media.
