CNN’s Cuomo: It's 'Embarrassing' to Be 'Wasting Energy' on COVID Origins
CNN anchor dismisses origins of the coronavirus
CNN host Chris Cuomo claimed that we're “wasting” energy on whether the origins of COVID-19 came naturally or from a Chinese lab.
After CNN Chief Medical Correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta said he thought the United States was not preprepared for the next pandemic, Cuomo said:
“I don’t know what the excuse is, I have to tell you, it’s embarrassing."
"And even now, all this energy we’re wasting on, was it the lab, was it a bat in the wild or at the market or whatever it is?" Cuomo said.
"These are the same people who are so curious now that they want to be right.
"At the same time that debate was happening early on, they were saying there is no pandemic, that it’s a hoax, that it’s just like the flu, that it won’t be a big deal here.”
Last week, embattled DR. Fauci admitted the National Institutes of Health (NIH) funded the Wuhan lab.
Fauci said the Chinese lab was funded through the EcoHealth Alliance to support “a modest collaboration with very respectable Chinese scientists who were world experts on coronavirus."
Fauci has been facing mounting backlash after the recent release of his emails show him saying one thing in private and another in public.
Fauci also admitted that a “typical mask you buy at the drugstore is not really effective in keeping out virus” and also asked a colleague to “please handle” the narrative surrounding the Wuhan Lab theory.
The emails also show the close relationship with Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention Director George Gao.
Earlier this week, Tea Party movement co-founder and GOP strategist Michael Johns said there was a "solid basis" for firing Fauci.
Fauci denied funding “gain of function” research, explaining the process to be “taking a virus that could infect humans and making it either more transmissible and/or pathogenic for humans.”
“That categorically was not done,” Fauci explained.
“He lied to the American people,” Paul said.
“There was gain of function research going on with Dr. Shi Zhengli at the Wuhan Institute.”
