Obama: Joe Biden Is ‘Finishing the Job’ I Started
'Joe and the administration are essentially finishing the job'
Former President Barack Obama said Joe Biden is now finishing the work he began when he took office in 2008.
Obama touted Biden's work on redistributing wealth through programs like Obamacare.
In an interview with New York Times columnist Ezra Klein, Obama said:
“I think that what we’re seeing now, is Joe and the administration are essentially finishing the job."
“And I think it’ll be an interesting test."
"Ninety percent of the folks who were there in my administration, they are continuing and building on the policies we talked about…"
Obama said he was frustrated that the Trump administration interrupted his ability to get credit for the economy's strength.
“That clouds what I think would have been a more impactful shift in political views towards Democrats as a result of my presidency,” he said.
Obama added he hoped Biden’s success would shift the next generation towards leftist policies.
“If they’re successful over the next four years, as I think they will be, I think that will have an impact,” he said.
“I think we’re now in an environment where if we just get some big pieces in place, building on what we did before, people will notice,” Obama said.
“And it will have a political impact.”
In March, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said Biden was in “regular” contact with Obama on a wide range of issues.
"I will say, having a unique view of this question, they are not just — they were not just the President and Vice President; they are friends, and they consult and talk about a range of issues."
Earlier this year, Obama praised Biden's sweeping executive orders calling it a "time for boldness."
Biden signed 17 executive orders within hours of entering the Oval Office, with 10 orders relating to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The orders reversed President Donald Trump's policies, including orders to roll back protections for the unborn and dismantle border security.

By rejoining the Paris climate accords on day one, he declared loudly and clearly that the U.S. will once again lead the fight against climate change.
