Trump Urges Americans to Recall 'How Great of a Job' He Did 'as President'
Trump notes soaring gas prices ahead of Memorial Day weekend
Donald Trump has urged Americans to remember "how great of a job Donald Trump did as president" as they fill their gas tanks over the holiday weekend.
"With Memorial Day Weekend coming up, tomorrow people start driving in the biggest automobile days of the year."
"I'm sorry to say the gasoline prices that you will be confronted with are far higher than they were just a short number of months ago where we had gasoline under $2 a gallon."
"Remember as you're watching the meter tick, and your dollars pile up, how great of a job Donald Trump did as President.
"Soon Russia and the Middle East will be making a fortune on oil, and you will be saying how good it was to have me as your President."
"Wasn't it great to be energy independent, but we are energy independent no more," he added.
"Shame, shame, shame.
"Other than that, have a great Memorial Day Weekend!"
Neon Nettle reported earlier in May:
The national average price of gasoline per gallon has risen to its highest level not seen since the Obama era.
The American Automobile Association reported:
“On the week, the national gas price average jumped six cents to $2.96.
“If the trend continues, an increase of three more cents would make the national average the most expensive since November 2014.
"The last time we saw average prices at $2.99 and higher."
Earlier this month, thousands of gas stations ran out of fuel amid the impacts of the cyber attack on the Colonial Pipeline energy supply.
Colonial Pipeline is a private company that controls the United States' largest pipeline.
“This shutdown will have implications on both gasoline supply and prices, but the impact will vary regionally,” said Jeanette McGee, AAA spokesperson.
