White House press secretary Jen Psaki expressed anger about people asking why Joe Biden has not yet visited the southern border.

During an interview with former President Barack Obama’s campaign manager David Axelrod, Psaki weighed in as the migrant crisis continues.

The White House press secretary said the border was an “important issue” but argued Americans are more concerned with the pandemic.

“What percentage of the public is focused on the border?” she asked.

“A much smaller percentage than who’s focused on the pandemic and the economy.

"So that may be maddening, but, you know, that’s what we try to do.”

'And to us, it’s like, it’s like that wasn’t really a crisis, it’s a huge challenge,' Psaki said

Axelrod noted that the Biden administration admitting the border crisis as a crisis was “sort of a game that drives you nuts” in Washington, DC.

“‘White House in crisis,'” Psaki replied.

“Our calculation on that front is one, this is cyclical, we’ve seen surges at the border, every time it happens, it’s bad until we do something to address it over the long term with root causes, immigration reform, it’s going to keep happening,” she continued.

“Really, what we had to be focused on was like what we were going to do about it,” she said.

“And to us, it’s like, it’s like that wasn’t really a crisis, it’s a huge challenge.”

Recently, Cochise County Sheriff Mark Dannels also vented frustration that Vice President Kamala Harris has not yet visited the border despite being appointed the lead for the border crisis on March 24

The Daily Singal reported:

“We haven’t been prioritizing the southwest border. If that were the case, the vice president would be here,” Dannels said.

Dannels says his community is concerned about what is happening along the 83 miles the county shares with Mexico.

“She was close, she got to South Carolina—the other day, I heard, North Carolina. I got a call from the sheriff in that county say, ‘Hey, the vice president’s here.’ I go, ‘Send her south. I’d like to have a word with her.’ But she hasn’t been down here. And she’s supposed to be in charge of this.”

As of Friday, it is the 45th day that Harris has gone without visiting the border or holding a news conference about her duties as Biden’s manager of the border crisis – a role she took on in late March.

Fox News reported that Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas would visit a migrant processing facility in Donna, Texas, KVEO-TV of Brownsville, Texas, reported.
