Arizona Border Patrol Apprehends Over 1,600 Migrants in Just 2 Days
Agents encountered at least 13 groups
Border Patrol agents nabbed over 1,600 migrants over the weekend amid an influx of undocumented immigrants at the southern border.
At least 13 groups with 30 or more migrants illegally crossing into the United States from Mexico were encountered by agents, Chris Clem chief of the agency's Yuma, Ariz., sector tweeted.
Migrants crossed in areas where there is no infrastructure to deter migrants from crossing illegally on foot, he said.
Agents encountered a group of 52 migrants and another of 110 three hours later on Friday morning.
The Yuma Sector comprises of over 81,000 square miles of mostly desert terrain divided between California and Arizona.
Many Republicans and critics say the surge is due to Joe Biden's rollback of Trump-era immigration policies, including halting border wall construction.

But Biden blamed Trump for the crisis.
"He dismantled all the elements that exist to deal with what had been a problem and continued to be a problem for a long time," Biden said at a press conference last month.
"He, in fact, shut down the number of beds available."
"He did not fund HHS to get people to get the children out of those Border Patrol facilities where they should not be and not supposed to be more than a few days — a little while.
"But he dismantled all of that."
Former Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Acting Secretary Chad Wolf accused Joe Biden of telling a "pure lie" after claiming that President Donald Trump is to blame for the border crisis.
“While I respect the Presidency, this is a pure lie,” Wolf said.
"The admin is looking for any reason to explain the crisis they created."
"We briefed the transition team numerous, numerous times."
Wolf also hit back at claims by Biden that Trump had left DHS and the Department of Defense understaffed after firing many officials.
"And the reference to firing officials is lunacy,” Wolf said.
According to a new CNN poll, a majority of Americans do not approve of how Joe Biden is handling what they believe is now a border crisis.
78% of those polled believe that the situation at the border is a crisis.
