Ted Cruz: Joe Biden’s Policies Caused The Border Crisis
'This crisis exists because of President Biden’s policies'
Republican Texas Sen. Ted Cruz said his recent trip to the southern border showed him the “crisis” Joe Biden’s policies have created.
In a NewsWeek Op-Ed, Cruz wrote:
“This crisis exists because of President Biden’s policies,” Cruz said.
Cruz explained how the Biden administration made three major mistakes in the first week of taking office:
Number one, he immediately halted the construction of the border wall. Number two, he reinstated the failed Obama-era catch-and-release policy.
Number three—and this was the most indefensible decision—he unlawfully ended the “Remain in Mexico” policy, an international agreement President Trump negotiated with the government of Mexico whereby Mexico agreed that Central American immigrants who had crossed illegally through Mexico would stay in Mexico while their asylum cases were adjudicated in the United States.
That agreement was a great victory, and it resulted in a massive drop in illegal immigration—so much so that in 2020, the United States experienced the lowest level of illegal immigration in 45 years.
Now, because of Joe Biden’s policies, we have the highest rate of illegal immigration in 20 years.
Last month, Neon Nettle reported that Cruz posted a video of a cramped migrant camp along the southern border along with human traffickers taunting Border Patrol agents from the Rio Grande.
The Republican Cruz visited the border with 18 other senators, calling out Biden for his policies causing the crisis.

“These are the Biden cages,” the Texas senator captioned a video of a cramped migrant camp.
“Thousands of kids, in the midst of a pandemic, crammed in at 1500% capacity. This is just one of the ‘pods’ at Donna,” he said.
Cruz noted how “the cartels care nothing for these people,” adding they only “care about the money they make from shepherding people across the border and from a drug trade.”
Earlier this month, Biden finally described the surge of migrants at the border as a “crisis."
Biden spoke to the media following a round of golf at the Delaware Country Club.
Biden explained why he reversed his position on raising the caps set by Donald Trump on refugees.
“The problem was that the refugee part was working on the crisis that ended up on the border with young people,” he said to reporters.
In March, over 18,500 unaccompanied children crossed the border, 60 percent more than the 2019 record of 11,494.
Biden previously refused to describe the flood of migrants as a crisis in March.“No,” he replied when a reporter asked him if it was a crisis
