(UPDATE) Only One of Kamala Harris's Children's Books Donated to Migrant Kids
Long Beach and HHS indicated that only a single copy of Harris's book was donated
An earlier report from Neon Nettle suggested Kamala Harris Book was placed in Migrant children Welcome Packs, but this is not correct.
Long Beach and HHS indicated that only a single copy of Harris's book was donated, and neither entity paid for it.
"The referenced book was one of an assortment of hundreds of titles donated to the Long Beach Emergency Intake Site as part of a City of Long Beach new books and toys drive," HHS said a statement to Newsweek.
"No taxpayer dollars were used to purchase Vice President Harris' book."
A spokesman for Long Beach had this to say to Newsweek:
"The City of Long Beach, in partnership with the Long Beach Convention and Visitors Bureau, has a citywide book and toy drive that is ongoing to support the migrant children who are temporarily staying in Long Beach at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services shelter. The single book you reference is one of the hundreds of various books that have already been donated. The book was not purchased by HHS or the City."
Original story below:
Kamala Harris's children’s book will be given to migrant children in welcome kits at a new shelter in Long Beach, California, according to reports.
The New York Post reported:
“’Whenever there’s trouble, superheroes show up just in time,’ Harris tells kids in the book, shown sitting on a cot with more basic supplies at the Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center, newly-converted to deal with the spiraling illegal immigration influx.”
But despite migrant minors receiving the book, Harris has still not visited the southern border, nor has she issued a press conference about the ongoing crisis.
Harris instead peddled Joe Biden’s infrastructure package at the Canadian border.
“Welcome to the #WrongBorder, [Vice President Kamala Harris]!” the New Hampshire GOP tweeted.
“As you travel over 2,300 miles away from El Paso, our country would be better served with an official visit to our southern border, not a campaign trip for [Hassan].”
“Vice President Kamala Harris would serve our nation better by tackling the crisis at our southern border instead of campaigning with Maggie Hassan near our northern border,” New Hampshire GOP Chairman Stephen Stepanek said.
Welcome to the #WrongBorder, @VP @KamalaHarris! Harris refused to answer questions on when she might visit the southern border.
Meanwhile, the Biden administration is paying travel costs for adult sponsors to pick up migrant children from shelters.
Neon Nettle reported earlier this week:
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) confirmed its Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) was okayed last month and would start paying for travel costs for sponsors to pick up children.
In February, the Biden administration started using government funds to pay to transport minors to sponsors.
According to HHS spokesperson, the transport of children to sponsors is a "normal part" of the UAC program’s operations.
According to estimates, the United States is spending at least $60 million a week to house unaccompanied children.
Currently, there are over 20,000 in HHS custody.
