Former Democrat Mayor and BLM Activist Faces Child Sex Abuse Charges
Robert Jacob has been outspoken in his support for 'defunding the police'
A former California Democrat mayor and a Black Lives Matter activist have been hit with 11 felony charges connected to a child sexual abuse probe.
Robert Jacob, the liberal progressive former mayor of Sebastopol in Sonoma County, Northern California, was arrested for “five felony and one misdemeanor sexual assault charges against a minor,” the Sebastopol Police Department said in a statement.
When Jacob appeared in the Sonoma County Superior Court, the charges increased to 11.
Jacob has been outspoken in his support for “defunding the police."
Similarly, last year, Black Lives Matter activist Christopher DeVries, who organized recent protests calling to "defund the police," was also arrested on child pornography possession charges.
The charges against Jacob include:
- Committing lewd acts with a child ages 14 to 15
- Participating in sexual penetration of a child under 16
- Making a child under 16 available to another person for lewd or lascivious acts
- Distribution of child pornography

Between December 2019 and March 2021, police were tipped about possible sexual assaults and opened an investigation on March 30.
The investigation led to Jacob becoming a suspect and took the former mayor into custody.
Jacob has remained politically active despite no longer being mayor.
Jacob described the Minneapolis City Council’s decision to “dismantle the police department and replace it with a ‘transformative new model of public safety,'” as “progress."
He also praised Black Lives Matter for inspiring the decision and ended, “I can’t wait for more!”
Jacob even praised BLM rioters causing damage in various American cities.
He called BLM rioters “our warriors. . .our rioters,” saying they were fighting a “civil rights war. Violence is what it takes to win wars.”
Jacob claimed “police beat people daily and kill them regularly,” meaning that a “black person” breaking the “window of a CVS” should not be seen as condemnable.
He ended, “Support our troops. . .It is a shame that we aren’t out there ourselves. Consider it dodging the draft.”
Last year, Neon Nettle reported on the arrest of 37-year-old BLM organizer Christopher Devries, of Jackson, New Hampshire, for charges of possession of both child sexual abuse images and drugs.
He was also charged with falsifying physical evidence after reportedly trying to destroy his smartphone during his arrest.
Devries’ home was raided by the Jackson Police Department and several other law enforcement agencies after executing a search warrant following a lengthy investigation into suspected child sex abuse activity, JPD said in a news release.
