Pelosi Thanks George Floyd for Dying While Celebrating Chauvin's Guilty Verdict
Democrat House speaker says 'thank you' to Floyd 'for sacrificing your life for justice'
Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi thanked George Floyd for dying during her speech celebrating ex-police officer Derek Chauvin being found guilty of his murder.
Pelosi, a California Democrat, gave a speech following a jury convicting Chauvin on all three counts of murder and manslaughter on Tuesday afternoon.
However, Pelosi sparked massive outrage with her remarks by thanking George Floyd for “sacrificing” his life for justice.
"So again, thank you, George Floyd, for sacrificing your life for justice, for being there to call out to your mom,” Pelosi said.
"How heartbreaking was that? Call out for your mom; 'I can’t breathe.'
"But because of you and because of thousands, millions of people around the world who came out for justice, your name will always be synonymous with justice.”
Pelosi made the comments while speaking alongside the Congressional Black Caucus shortly after the verdict was handed down.
During her speech, the top House Democrat looked to the sky and thanked Floyd for dying.

Floyd, a black man, died in police custody after former Minneapolis Police officer Derek Chauvin kneeled on his neck during his arrest.
A medical report later found that Floyd had traces of methamphetamine in his system and that he had ingested fentanyl prior to the interaction with police.
Pelosi also thanked God and Jesus in her speech while noting that the family of Floyd were faithful believers.
"His name synonymous with justice, and dignity, and grace, and prayerfulness," Pelosi said of Floyd, "and prayerfulness."
Pelosi received criticism from both the right and the Left over the tone-deaf remarks.
"Nancy Pelosi thanks George Floyd for being murdered," Huffington Post editor Philip Lewis summed up.
"What in the actual f," New York Post columnist Karol Markowicz reacted.
"Ummm... he didn’t sacrifice his life... he was brutally, horrifically murdered. What the hell is this," Guardian writer Hannah Parkinson tweeted.
"Sacrifice implies he had a choice," LA Times reporter Melissa Evans similarly wrote.
"Oh, that is very bad. Very, very no," GQ correspondent Julia Ioffe expressed.
"real white person wearing kente cloth energy on this quote," progressive commentator Hasan Piker wrote.
"I didn’t expect Pelosi to have one of the worst takes, but here we are," YouTube host Farron Cousins concluded.
"I don't expect anything less of Nancy Pelosi. Racism is and has always been a spectrum," author Frederick Joseph wrote.
"This type of lunacy is what happens when you view people as nothing but pawns for your cause," journalist Annika Rothstein said.
