Biden's UN Ambassador Accused of Pushing 'CCP Propaganda' with Anti-American Remarks
Linda Thomas-Greenfield hit with backlash for blasting America during far-left event
Joe Biden's United Nations ambassador has been accused of pushing "propaganda" on behalf of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) while attacking the United States during an anti-American statement she made before the Human Rights Council.
Linda Thomas-Greenfield reportedly told the UN body that “the original sin of slavery weaved white supremacy into our founding documents.”
The ambassador apparently made the remarks on behalf of the Biden administration as it lobbies the Human Rights Council to readmit the United States.
Thomas-Greenfield boasted about her remarks while delivering a speech at a virtual Wednesday conference for the far-left National Action Network (NAN) - an organization run by radical Democrat activist and “genuine bigot” Al Sharpton.
She argued that the “imperfect union” of America must approach issues of “equity and justice at the global scale … with humility.”
"We have to acknowledge that we are an imperfect union — and have been since the beginning — and every day we strive to make ourselves more perfect, and more just," she stated.
"In a diverse country like ours, that means committing to do the work,” the US ambassador to the UN said.
She told the “human rights” body, which includes China, Cuba, Venezuela, Saudi Arabia, and North Korea, that the United States needed to “engage trailblazing groups like yours” in order to “improve.”
"I tried to do this recently in the UN General Assembly when I spoke on the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination,” Thomas-Greenfield said.
"That day and commemoration was personal for me," she told attendees of the radical-left NAN event
"So I told the UN some personal stories," she continued.
"I told them how my great-grandmother, Mary Thomas, born in 1865, was the child of a slave, just three generations back from me.
"I grew up in the segregated South; I was bused to a segregated school.
"On weekends, the Klan burned crosses on lawns in our neighborhood.
"I shared these stories and others to acknowledge, on the international stage, that I have personally experienced one of America’s greatest imperfections.
"I’ve seen for myself how the original sin of slavery weaved white supremacy into our founding documents and principles.”
Thomas-Greenfield faced subsequent backlash over her unpatriotic remarks from a wide range of critics, including:
Christopher Rufo, expert on critical race theory: “Yikes, it’s like CCP propaganda, straight out of the American ambassador’s mouth!”
Rachel Bovard, policy analyst: “She’s offering a straight faced apology for America – still the freest country in the world – to UN Human Rights Council member countries who execute people for being gay.”
Nikki Haley, former U.S. ambassador to the U.N.: “The Biden administration criticizing our country in front of the world’s worst human rights abusers & oppressive regimes is a win for our enemies. America is the freest, fairest country in the world. We shouldn’t have trouble saying that.”
Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR): “In the Cold War, we relied on Soviet diplomats to condemn America at the UN; in the Biden administration, we just do it ourselves.”
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX): “Perhaps our ambassadors should defend America. And not kiss up to the brutal tyrants (including Cuba, Venezuela, Russia & China) on the UN Human Rights Council.”
Ben Shapiro, host of “The Ben Shapiro Show”: “The fact that the governing administration of the United States is going around telling the world that the foundational principles of the country are racist — a country that has spread more prosperity and freedom than any in human history — is despicable beyond words.”
J Michael Waller, policy analyst: “Not even the Chinese, Russian, North Korean, or Iranian ambassadors to the UN talk about America this way.”
Allie Beth Stuckey, host of “Relatable”: “This is postmodern, CRT nonsense that has no correlation to reality and will truly be the death of us. This is the Biden admin doing our enemies’ bidding.”
Amy Alkon, science columnist: “Whoopsy! Seems somebody forgot to read the Constitution she took an oath to uphold! It ultimately prevailed, and from its inception, initially led the world in establishing individual rights— transforming other societies as well as our own.”
Harminder Singh, activist: “Who needs the CCP to bring down America when you have people like Thomas-Greenfield doing a better job?”
Harmeet Dhillon, attorney: “This is a total disgrace. America is the paragon of freedom throughout the world. Why are our leaders doing the job of our enemies?!”
Josh Hammer, Newsweek editor: “The 1619 Project-ification of America. Appalling.”
Zaid Jilani, progressive writer: “I can’t recall a UN Ambassador talking about the founding of their country in this way before. Putting aside whether it’s true (it isn’t true), I don’t know any of the leaders of any of the countries in the world that talk about their country in such an oikophobic way.”
