Nancy Pelosi Claims She Would've Fought Capitol Rioters: ‘I’m a Street Fighter'
House speaker says rioters wouldn't have wanted to mess with her
Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi claimed she would have stood up to the January 6 Capitol rioters saying they would have “had a battle on their hands” if they messed with her.
Pelosi told USA Today that the rioters had intended to access herself and other targets.
“That’s what they were setting out to do," Pelosi said.
She claimed if the rioters had reached her, they would not have wanted to mess with her.
“Well, I’m pretty tough," Pelosi claimed.
"I’m a street fighter."
"They would have had a battle on their hands,” she continued.
Members of Congress were forced to evacuate the scene after the mob took over the U.S. Capitol building.
Mike Pence at the time was overseeing proceedings to certify Joe Biden’s electoral victory.
In February, a group of top law enforcement officials testified to Congress that the riot at the U.S. Capitol building was a "coordinated attack" that was "planned" well in advance of January 6.
Security officials in charge of the response gave testimony at a Senate committee hearing on Tuesday.
Sen. Lindsay Graham also placed suspicion on Pelosi by questioning what she knew prior to the Capitol riot in January.
"Here’s what I want to know: What did Nancy Pelosi know, and when did she know it?" Graham said.
"The whole storyline, originally, was Trump created this with his speech," Graham said.
"Now we know that people had this on their mind before he spoke."
"So now they’re playing this bizarre game of trying to get Trump in on it before Jan. 6."
