Democrat Border Sheriff: Biden Immigration Policies ‘Threw Out Baby with the Bath'
Bden 'didn’t have a policy in place'
A Texas border sheriff said Joe Biden's border security and immigration policies have resulted in a spike of drownings as increasing numbers of migrants cross the Rio Grande.
Val Verde County Sheriff Joe Frank Martinez, a Democrat, said at least six migrants drowned while trying to illegally cross from Mexico into Texas since the start of 2021.
Speaking during a radio interview with The 830 Times in San Angelo, Texas, Sheriff Martinez said;
“I think it’s driven by the lack of this administration addressing immigration issues."
“In my opinion, when this administration came in, they threw the baby out with the bathwater, and they didn’t have a policy in place, and now they’re struggling to catch up, and from what I’m seeing, they’re not being totally factual as to what they’re doing with these immigrants.”
His remarks come as the Sheriff reported the drowning deaths of at least six migrants in the last six months.
The last migrant who drowned was a Cuban national who had been in the river for several days.
“Last year, we had a total of two all year long, and one child that was never recovered,” the sheriff explained.
Martinez accused Biden of failing to tell the truth to the public about the dangers the current border crisis poses to the public.
“For example, they say that they’re testing them for COVID, but that’s not really happening unless they’re showing symptoms, and the Border Patrol is just too busy,” he said.
“There are just too many immigrants to process and not enough personnel in the field to go after these little groups that are getting away.”
“This loss of life is very sad, and I wish this administration, both sides, would get together and come up with something that’s effective for everyone."
"They’re putting that burden on the border, on the citizens of our community. We’re dealing with it on a daily basis, and there’s not enough being done,” Sheriff Martinez concluded.
Biden recently ordered the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to limit any media communication about the growing crisis at the border.
A senior-level law enforcement source told Breitbart they had received verbal orders on speaking to reporters.
Earlier this month, Arizona sheriff Mark Dannels of Cochise County warned that Biden's anti-Trump immigration policies have left the border "wide open for cartels," putting Americans in danger.
"When President Biden rescinded the emergency order on the southwest border, it stopped resources and stopped construction on our border," the sheriff told "Fox & Friends" on Friday.
"As a result of that one area where the fence is not complete, we get five or six groups a day coming across there."
"This administration owns this decision," he added.
"And what it’s doing is, is forcing us back to 2019, when we had the largest, what I call, crime scene in the country to include the largest humanitarian situation going on."
