Biden Goes Maskless at Lincoln Memorial After Signing Mask Mandate
Sign executive order requiring masks on federal land, immediately flouts it
Joe Biden made a maskless appearance at the Lincoln Memorial on Wednesday, almost immediately after signing an executive order requiring masks to be worn on federal land.
Biden signed the federal mask mandate as one of several orders he pushed through before he first day was out.
“The most pressing of his priorities are measures to combat the deadly coronavirus pandemic,” The Washington Post reported.
“Biden signed executive actions to require masks on all federal grounds and asked agencies to extend moratoriums on evictions and on federal student loan payments.”
The order lasts 100 days and “applies on federal property and on airlines, trains and transit systems traveling between states,” The Wall Street Journal noted.
Despite his order, Biden was seen late on Wednesday night visiting the Lincoln Memorial and not wearing a mask.
Biden went maskless as he spoke with reporters while standing only several feet away from another person.
“Wearing masks isn’t a partisan issue — it’s a patriotic act that can save countless lives,” Biden tweeted on Wednesday evening.
“That’s why I signed an executive order today issuing a mask mandate on federal property.
"It’s time to mask up, America.”

Bloomberg News reporter Jennifer Epstein tweeted out photos from the event that showed other members of the Biden family ignoring social distancing and not wearing masks.

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki was also criticized for acknowledging during her first press conference that Biden had signed the executive order–remarks that she made while she was not wearing a mask as she stood in the White House.
“To combat the deadly virus, the president launched his 100-day masking challenge, asking Americans to do their part and mask up for 100 days,” Psaki said.
“He’s doing his part as well, issuing a mask mandate that will require anyone visiting a federal building or federal land, or using certain modes of public transportation to wear a mask.”

Looking forward to the media harshly criticizing Jen Psaki for briefing without a mask like they did with Kayleigh.— Abigail Marone (@abigailmarone) January 21, 2021
