Annual Gallup survey shows Trump is most admired man, knocking Obama of top spot

President Donald Trump has ended his predecessor Barack Obama's 12-year run as America's 'most admired man,' according to the annual Gallup survey released Tuesday.

Trump’s top-place finish ties with Dwight Eisenhower for the most ever.

Eighteen percent of the survey’s respondents named the president as their most admired man.

The figure compares to 15 percent who named Obama.

Only six percent named Joe Biden.

Meanwhile, three percent named Dr. Anthony Fauci, and two percent said Pope Francis.

The remaining 10 men included:

  • Elon Musk
  • Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders
  • Bill Gates
  • LeBron James,
  • The Dalai Lama

The Rev. Billy Graham, who passed away in 2018, finished among the top 10 a record 61 times during his life.

Former President Jimmy Carter is the living man with the most top 10 finishes -- 29 -- putting him behind Graham and Ronald Reagan for third all-time.

Carter finishes just outside the top 10 this year but made the 2019 list.

Trump's rise has been gradual but increased steadily throughout the year.

This is the 10th time Trump has finished among the top 10 men, including four times in 1988 through 1990 and 2011.

Obama has now done so 15 times and the Dalai Lama 11 times.

But Fauci and James are new to the list.

Michelle Obama ranks as the most admired woman for the third year in a row, according to the poll.

In 2018, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton lost her crown as the American women's "most admired woman" to former First Lady Michelle Obama.
