Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is facing massive backlash from allies of President Donald Trump after congratulating Joe Biden and recognizing him as "President-elect Joe Biden."
Trump himself responded to the news saying people are "angry."
McConnell said he wanted to "congratulate the President-elect Joe Biden" and "Vice President-elect Kamala Harris."
Trump tweeted:
"Mitch, 75,000,000 VOTES, a record for a sitting President (by a lot). Too soon to give up. Republican Party must finally learn to fight. People are angry!"

Trump campaign attorney Lin Wood also responded calling McConnell a 'traitor' and vowing:
"His day of judgment is coming."
"McConnell is NOT a Patriot. Ask his wife. She knows," wrote Wood.
"McConnell just wants power, influence, & money. He is willing to sell America to get what he wants. McConnell is a traitor to American Patriots," Wood continued.

McConnell along with Republican Whip Sen. John Thune (R-SD) and Rules Committee Chairman Sen. Roy Blunt (R-MO) all made calls for Republicans to refrain from objecting to electoral votes.
“I think that there was encouragement on the phone for us to accept the result, as much as it’s not what we, you know, would have envisioned for the next four years, and to try to do what’s best for American people, which is to look forward,” Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) said, according to the Hill.
