Cuomo Throws Celebrity-Filled Fundraiser as Restaurants Forced to Ban Indoor Dining
Fundraiser will feature stars like Robert De Niro and Ben Stiller

Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo is throwing a celebrity-filled birthday fundraiser with big-name Hollywood stars like Robert De Niro and Ben Stiller as restaurants across the city are forced to close due to a ban on indoor dining.
The party, which is virtual, will raise cash for Cuomo's 2022 reelection campaign.
Donations range from $50 to $10,000 for the “host” level, according to the official invitation.
The fundraiser will also feature appearances by Whoopi Goldberg, Rosie Perez, and Henry Winkler.
The stars appeared in a recent video tribute to Gov. Cuomo during the International Emmy Awards where the Governor accepted a special Emmy in recognition of his televised coronavirus press conferences.
But outside of Hollywood, Cuomo is not as popular with the normal working folk of New York.

The Governor announced all indoor dining in the city would be banned indefinitely due to a rise in Covid-19 cases.
The restrictions come amid a growing backlash from business owners in the city who are pushing back against Cuomo's lockdown orders.
“It’s in everyone’s interest to get the virus under control, don’t overwhelm the hospitals, don’t overwhelm the positivity rate," Cuomo said.
“If we don’t slow the spread and we overwhelm the hospital system."
The governor's restrictions will go into effect on Monday.

The city will only allow outdoor (despite the freezing climate at this time of year), takeout orders will be allowed.

Cuomo's announcement comes just a week after a bar owner in Staten Island was arrested by police for defying Cuomo's "orange zone" coronavirus orders.
Earlier this week, Danny Presti vowed to continue fighting to save his business.
