Schiff: Trump is ‘Acting Like an Organized Crime Figure’
Democrat responds to report of Trump pardoning former National Security Advisor

Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff responded to reports that President Donald Trump is pardoning former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn.
Schiff told CNN that Trump is “acting like an organized crime figure” by rewarding people who "lie" for him.
In 2017, Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about his Russian contacts but later tried to withdraw his guilty plea.
“It would send a message that at least as far as President Trump is concerned, if you lie on his behalf, if you cover up for him, he will reward you,” Schiff stated.
“He will protect you, but only if he thinks it’s in his interest," he added.
"There are others that lied for him that he’s not going to extend that kind of service to, but it just, frankly reflects so ill on our democracy, on the United States."

"Imagine what people around the world think when we have a president who’s acting like an organized crime figure," Schiff continued.
"But this is who Donald Trump is," he added.
"It’s who he was on the way into the presidency."
"It will be exactly who he is on his last days of the presidency.”

Sources told Axios on Tuesday, Trump informed confidants of his plan to pardon Flynn - but made it clear he could still change his mind.
The retired lieutenant general was jailed over allegations that he lied to the FBI about his Russian contacts during the 2016 general election.

Flynn's attorney, Sidney Powell, reportedly said she requested that Trump not issue a pardon, but the president publicly has been very sympathetic to Flynn's cause.
"What happened to General Michael Flynn, a war hero, should never be allowed to happen to a citizen of the United States again!" Trump tweeted in April.
Earlier this year, Powell blasted the federal judge who refused to dismiss the case against Fynn.
Flynn's attorney has called for an immediate end to the Department of Justice’s case against him after former President Bill Clinton-appointed Judge Emmitt Sullivan ignored a DOJ request to dismiss the charges.
Judge Sullivan tabled a motion by the DOJ to dismiss the case against Flynn.
