NY Gym Owner Defies Cuomo, Rips Up $15,000 Fine: 'We Will Not Comply’
U.S. military veteran expresses anger at restrictions
A New York gym owner tore up a $15,000 lockdown fine from the Erie County Health Department during a live appearance of Fox News on Tuesday.
U.S. military veteran and owner of Orchard Park’s Athletes Unleashed gym, Robby Dinero, was hit with a fine after holding an after-hours protest in his closed gym along with fellow business owners.
Dinero's confrontation ended with government officials being ushered off his property.
Dinero told Fox News’ Sandra Smith the lockdown had gone too far, which he argues is now denying Americans the freedom to earn a living.
The gym owner also highlighted NY Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz are raking in $225,000 and $103,000 salaries through taxpayers.
Dinero said New York officials should look their constituents’ children in the eyes and tell them their parents’ work is not “essential."
Dinero ripped up his $15,000 fine while supporters gathered behind him chanted, “We will not comply” while waving American flags.
Erie County Comptroller Stefan Mychajliw posted a link to the GoFundMe account for Dinero on Twitter.
“Poloncarz’s Health Dept fined Marine, war veteran & business owner Robby Dinero $15,000,” he wrote.
“Kicked them out of his gym. Video went viral. Sparked the resistance against tyrannical politicians. Please share our GoFundMe. Help him fight against this $15K fine.”

The GoFundMe reads:
Local business owner, Marine, and war veteran Robby Dinero started the resistance against the government and police arbitrarily shutting down businesses because of COVID. Video of this proud patriot kicking out health inspectors from his gym went viral. Power hungry politicians punched back, fining this veteran and small business owner $15,000 for defiantly standing up to tyrannical COVID shut downs that are more about power and control than your health. We can help Robby fight back. An attack on one is an attack on all. Let’s raise enough to cover the cost of his ridiculous fine orchestrated by an over-zealous Health Department controlled by Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz.

A number of business owners refused to comply when a health department official and the Erie County Sheriff’s Department entered their privately-owned facility.
Around 100 business owners were meeting together before they were reported by an anonymous person for exceeding the Cuomo-edict of no more than 10-person gatherings, according to reporting from WBEN.
In September, Neon Nettle reported gym owners across San Francisco expressed anger after discovering gyms within government buildings have been open for months, despite their own establishment being forced to close due to the coronavirus.
Daniele Rabkin of Crossfit Golden Gate expressed outrage at the government's apparent double standards.
“It’s shocking, it’s infuriating,” Rabkin told a local NBC station.“
