Lifelong Democrat City Official Flips: 'Trump Will Be the Man for the Job'
Michigan City Council member says he's voting Trump
Michigan City Council member and lifelong Democrat Maurice Davis has flipped in favor of the GOP incumbent President Donald Trump.
Davis announced his decision to vote for Trump on Tuesday during an appearance on Newsmax with host Grant Stinchfield.
“All my life I’ve been a Democrat,” Davis told the host.
“I was raised that way, Democrat. It’s just taken for granted — Democrat — all black folks supposed to be Democrat.”
Davis noted that the Democrats, who claim advocate for minority communities, never fulfill those promises.
“They just haul you to the polls, and after that, it’s over with,” Davis added.
“Well, we need somebody that’s going to stand strong and start representing and do the best they can to help all Americans," Davis said.
"And I feel President Trump will be the man for the job.”
He noted how Democratic cities like flint have been run into the ground.
"This used to be a beautiful, viable community,” Davis said.
“But the Democrats, they believe in entitlements and handouts. I believe in; if you give everyone equal opportunity, we can rise up.”
Davis lamented how the middle class collapsed into poverty after General Motors left Flint.
“We have nobody speaking for us, and I’m tired of the Democrats speaking with a negative narrative like they lied on President Trump,” Davis said.
“Racism and everything else to just fool people to the polls, and that’s not right. That’s not right.”
Davis took those same remarks to a rally with Vice President Mike Pence at Michigan’s Flint Bishop Airport Wednesday.
“Last four years I voted for Hillary Clinton. This year I decided to go with President Trump. I’m not a bootlicker, I’m not an Uncle Tom,” Davis said to the crowd.
“I’m none of those things.
"I’m somebody that’s in a poor, impoverished community.”
“People are losing everything,” Davis later continued, “and when Mr. Trump says ‘What the hell you got to lose,’ he was talking to me. He was not talking to my seat.”
“Only thing Maurice D. Davis got to lose is a council seat at $700 every two weeks,” Davis said.
“But this is what I got to gain — instead of being divided state of America, it’s time to be the United States of America,” he said.
Trump later tweeted the clip with a simple, “THANK YOU!”
But now, with an endorsement from Davis, the 'Trump's a racist' narrative has been given a true death blow.
