Pelosi: I’m ’Very Confident' Joe Biden Will Beat Trump on Tuesday
House speaker predicted counting votes might well continue past polling day
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi predicted with confidence that Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden will win the White House on Tuesday.
The House speaker said Democrats stand ready to work with Biden on a transition agenda to tackle COVID-19 and address the economy.
“I feel very confident that Joe Biden will be elected president on Tuesday,” Pelosi said during a Washington media conference.
Pelosi predicted counting votes might well continue past polling day itself.
“On Jan. 20, he will be inaugurated president of the United States," Pelosi said.
"So while we don’t want to be overconfident or assume anything, we have to be ready for how we’re going to go down a different path.”
The speaker said her faith lay in the science relating to the coronavirus pandemic.
“We are confident. We are calm. And we are prepared. We are ready,” Pelosi said of the election.

Pelosi, who plans to run for speaker if Democrats keep the House, recently said Trump was "delusional" for predicting Republicans would take back the House.
"You keep thinking that, Mr. President," Pelosi told CNN's Jake Tapper on Sunday.
"You just keep on thinking that. Just another example of delusional statements he made there."
On Thursday, Pelosi said it would be Trump's best interest to "stand up like a man and accept" the results if Biden wins.
The House speaker made the comments during an interview with MSNBC's Ayman Mohyeldin.
Mohyeldin asked Pelosi, "what Democrats can do if Trump prematurely declares victory on Election Night."
"On January 20, 2021, Joe Biden will be inaugurated president of the United States," Pelosi declared.

Earlier this year, Pelosi declared Trump would be leaving the White House in November, even if "if he has to be fumigated."
