Footage shows moment man rips cross from an East London Baptist church

A thug has been caught on camera tearing down the cross from the roof of a Christian church in London, UK.
The man who attempted to rip a large cross from the roof of the East London church has now been arrested, police confirmed.
The shocking footage of the incident was posted on social media and quickly went viral.
The video appears to show a man repeatedly trying to pull a wooden cross from its base above the entrance to Chadwell Heath Baptist Church in Romford.
With the hood of a coat placed over the cross, the man is seen violently wrestling with the cross.

He can be seen using all his force to release the cross from the roof of the church.

Many on social media beleived the incident was a hate crime targetting Chritianity.
"This is very scary," one Twitter user said.
"Christians of the world come together... our children will pay for our mistakes," another added.
The Metropolitan Police said it was called to the church on High Road at 2.40 pm on Sunday.
Officers reportedly arrested a man at the scene on suspicion of criminal damage.

A spokesman for the force said the cross was recovered and the man remains in police custody.
Police have yet to reveal the motivation behind the attack.
Chadwell Heath Baptist Church has yet to comment on the incident.
