Lori Lightfoot on Plot to Kidnap Gov. Whitmer: ‘All Roads Lead Back to Trump’
Chicago Mayor joins Democrats blaming Trump for abduction plot
Democratic Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot predictably jumped on the bandwagon of Democrats blaming President Donald Trump for an alleged plot to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.
The anti-Trump Mayor, whose city has been blighted with soaring gun violence fo most of 2020, used the news of the kidnapping plot to attack the president.
“I think all roads lead back to Donald Trump,” Lightfoot stated, according to The Chicago Tribune.
“Unfortunately, every single time he attacks a public official, and I know this personally, there are those who take that as a license to come after us.”
“When somebody’s calling in the middle of the night repeatedly, that’s an issue, and that has only happened since Donald Trump has been trying to attack me personally,” the mayor said in a separate statement.
“And it’s an issue that many of us as mayors have, and he seems to have a particular obsession with female and particularly mayors of color.”
“There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t get some kind of harassment,” she added.
“There is a real cause and effect when the President names me in a disparaging way, which is usually what he does, and people feeling like they have a license to make what I regard as real threats.”
Sixteen men were arrested, and 13 were charged in connection with the plot to abduct the Michigan Mayor.
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer held a press conference following the arrests.
She used the opportunity to accuse Trump of being "complicit" in the kidnapping involving such "hate groups" plotting to abduct her.
The governor then claimed Trump "refused to condemn white supremacists and hate groups like these two Michigan militia groups," despite the President disavowing them multiple times.
But Footage later emerged of one suspect, Brandon Caserta, blasting Trump as "a tyrant" and "enemy" while sitting in a room with an anarchist flag in the background.

The Chicago Tribune reported:
"There's no indication in the criminal complaint that the men arrested were inspired by Trump."
"Authorities also have not publicly said whether the men were angry about Whitmer's coronavirus orders, which sharply curtailed businesses and individuals in an effort to slow the spread of the [corona]virus."
But despite the video evidence, left-leaning media outlets, including The New York Times, did, however, try to brand the individuals as “right-wing” and “Trump supporters."
