Illegal Aliens Freed by Sanctuary County Re-Arrested for Assault, Theft
Sanctuary county of Mecklenburg County ignores ICE detainers requests
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency has arrested a number of criminal illegal aliens after they were released by the sanctuary county of Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.
Twelve criminal illegal aliens in Mecklenburg County were arrested last week by ICE agents, which had a sanctuary policy since December 2018.
In the sting operation, half of the illegal aliens arrested had been released by Mecklenburg County communities despite ICE lodging detainers on them.
The ICE detainers are requests for them to be transferred into their custody and face deportation.
Among those arrested included Nicaraguan illegal alien Jose Ruiz-Quintero, who was nabbed in June for assault with a deadly weapon inflicting severe bodily injury charges.
Though ICE lodged a detainer on Ruiz-Quintero, Mecklenburg County officials released him from jail.
A federal immigration judge in August 2019 ordered Ruiz-Quintero to be deported.
On August 23, Guatemalan illegal alien Elder Amador-Lopez, who was arrested for assaulting a female.
ICE also lodged a detainer on Amador-Lopez, which was ignored by Mecklenburg County who released him four days later
In March 2014 and April 2014, Amador-Lopez was previously deported from the U.S.
ICE also arrested illegal alien Emmanuel Guillen-Gonzalez after he was arrested on July 21 for breaking and entering and larceny.
He has also been released from jail despite ICE lodging a detainer.
A federal immigration judge ordered Guillen-Gonzalez to be deported in 2018.
ICE official Henry Lucero said in a statement:
“It is time to put aside the political rhetoric and look at the facts – and the fact is, people are hurt and victimized because of jurisdictions that refuse to cooperate with ICE in what should be our shared mission to protect the public."

Earlier this year, Lawmakers in Democrat-controlled Virginia passed a bill to grant driver privilege cards to illegal aliens.
While Virginia's General Assembly resisted passing legislation giving full-fledged drivers' licenses to illegal immigrants, lawmakers did advance a measure granting them driving privilege cards.
“I cannot tell you all how important this is for about 300,000 people living in Virginia,” said Democrat Sen. Scott Surovell, who pushed the bill in the state Senate.
“This bill is going to change people’s lives.”
