Leftists Threaten Riots if Republicans Try to Fill Ginsburg's SCOTUS Seat
Media figures warn they will 'burn the entire f***ing thing down' if GOP fills seat
Leftists are threatened nationwide rioting and unrest if President Donald Trump and Republicans attempt to fill the late Ruth Bader Ginsburg's seat on the Supreme Court before the election.
Ginsburg passed away on Friday night aged 87 following a long battle with metastatic pancreatic cancer.
News of her death almost immediately triggered a heated political battle just weeks before a presidential election.
Left-wing media figures rushed to threaten violent riots if Trump and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) refuse to wait until after the election to fill the seat.
Former CNN host Reza Aslan responded by writing: “If they even TRY to replace RBG we burn the entire f***ing thing down.”
You all have been threatening, and attempting that for 4 years now. This is a terrorist threat. Thanks to all the traitors to America for poking their heads out today. You make this all too easy for us. https://t.co/D917dCddj9 https://t.co/2GBCzlRxhY pic.twitter.com/yYfIuHCGin— Kitty Shackleford (@KittyLists) September 19, 2020
Political writer Laura Bassett echoed a similar sentiment.
She stopped short of making a threat, however, writing: “If McConnell jams someone through, which he will, there will be riots. … *more, bigger riots.”
Australian astrophysicist Dr. Jessie Christiansen tweeted: “IF THEY RAM THROUGH AN APPOINTMENT IN THE NEXT TWO MONTHS I WILL RIOT.
"This is an actual nightmare.”
Writer Beau Willimon wrote: “We’re shutting this country down if Trump and McConnell try to ram through an appointment before the election.”
Political commentator Katie Herzog wrote: “All we can hope for in times like these is that Mitch McConnell has a stroke from laughing too hard.
"To clarify: I don’t want him to die.
"I just want him to be brain dead. I’m not a monster.”
Another leftist wrote: “tell me when we’re meeting outside mitch mcconnell’s house.”
Professor Emmett Macfarlane wrote on Twitter: “Burn Congress down before letting Trump try to appoint anyone to SCOTUS.”
On Friday night, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) quickly warned Trump and McConnell against attempting to fill Ginsburg’s seat.
A Trump-appointed justice for Ginsburg's seat ahead of Election Day would undoubtedly throw a wrench in the works of the Democrats' plans should the Harris-Biden campaign plan to contest the results.
“The American people should have a voice in the selection of their next Supreme Court Justice,” Sen. Schumer tweeted Friday night.
“Therefore, this vacancy should not be filled until we have a new president,” Schumer added.
