Kamala Harris: Biden Could Lose To Trump 'Because of Russian Interference'
Democratic vice-presidential candidate resurrects Russia conspiracy
Democratic vice-presidential candidate Sen. Kamala Harris warned that Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden could lose the 2020 election due to Russian election meddling.
During an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union" on Sunday, Host Dana Bash asked harris:
“I want to ask about Russia. The Department of Homeland Security bulletin said that Russia is trying to amplify claims that mail-in voting will lead to widespread voting fraud and undermine the public’s trust in the upcoming election," she began.
"Are you worried that Russian interference could cost you the election?” Bash asked.
“I am clear that Russia interfered in the election of the president of the United States in 2016."
"I serve on the Senate Intelligence Committee. We have published detailed reports about exactly what we believe happened," Harris continued.
"And I do believe that there will be foreign interference in the 2020 election and that Russia will be at the front of the line.”
Bash asked, “Could it cost you the White House?”
“Theoretically, of course, yes.”
Kamala Harris says "Russian interference" could cost the Biden campaign the election. If Russia has anything to do w/ costing Democrats the 2020 election, it will be because they've spent four years spewing unhinged Russiagate paranoia to excuse losing the 2016 election. pic.twitter.com/fvJP9csvYn— Aaron Maté (@aaronjmate) September 6, 2020
“We have classic voter suppression, we have what happened in 2016, which is foreign interference, we have a president who is trying to convince the American people not to believe in the integrity of our election system and compromise their belief that their vote might actually count," Harris said.
"These things are all at play, and I am very realistic, Joe is very realistic, that until we can win…that there will be many obstacles that people are intentionally placing in front of Americans’ ability to vote.”
Harris also said on Sunday she has “great faith” in the United States Postal Service’s capacity to handle large amounts of mail-in ballots.
“I have great faith in the United States Postal Service."
"And let’s remember, it is one of the hallmarks of a democracy and our democracy.”
Last year, Harris claimed that Russia was able to influence the 2016 election because it "figured out" Americans' racism.
Harris said Russia used “racism, sexism, anti-Semitism, homophobia, and transphobia," which "are America’s Achilles heel.”
