Joe Biden Calls Kenosha Shooting ‘Systemic Racism’ as Riots Engulf City
Rioting, looting, and arson breaks out in the city
Former Vice President Joe Biden responding to the shooting of a black man in Kenosha, Wisconsin, calling it “systemic racism.”
Following the shooting, rioting, looting, and arson broke out in the city, which Biden failed to condemn.
In a Facebook note, Biden said:
Yesterday in Kenosha, Wisconsin, Jacob Blake was shot seven times in the back as police attempted to restrain him from getting into his car. His children watched from inside the car, and bystanders watched in disbelief. And this morning, the nation wakes up yet again with grief and outrage that yet another Black American is a victim of excessive force. This calls for an immediate, full, and transparent investigation, and the officers must be held accountable.
These shots pierce the soul of our nation. Jill and I pray for Jacob’s recovery and for his children.
Equal justice has not been real for Black Americans and so many others. We are at an inflection point. We must dismantle systemic racism. It is the urgent task before us. We must fight to honor the ideals laid in the original American promise, which we are yet to attain: That all men and women are created equal, but more importantly that they must be treated equally.
But Biden had failed to mention key details of the shooting.
Kenosha News reported police had attempted to use a Taser on Blake before resorting to shooting him.
The video shows Blake walking away from police who had their guns drawn before he reached into the car.
A full explanation for the incident is yet to be provided by local police.
There are still no details as to whether the suspect was armed.
Following the shooting, riots in Kenosha erupted overnight which saw armed rioters confronting police.
Stores were looted in the city and the police attacked.
Biden failed to condemn the riots or call for calm or even peaceful protest.
Biden's remarks came as a car dealership in Kenosha Wisconsin was targeted by rioters and set ablaze as NewsThud reported.
FOX 6 reporter Cassidy Williams shared photos of the horrifying aftermath. “Car Source,” the dealership sold pre-owned vehicles.
