New York Gov Cuomo Labels COVID-19 the 'European Virus'
Democrat governor diverts blame away from China during Trump-bashing speech
New York's Democrat Gov. Andrew Cuomo labeled the China-born coronavirus the "European virus" during a speech this week.
The governor attempted to divert blame for the COVID-19 pandemic away from the Communist Party of China (CPC) during his Trump-bashing remarks at the Democratic National Convention.
"The European virus infected the Northeast while the White House was still fixated on China," Gov. Cuomo said.
"The virus had been attacking us for months before they even knew it was here."
As COVID-19 spread from China to the rest of the world earlier this year, the CPC launched a propaganda campaign to obscure its origins, even going so far as to accuse U.S. servicemen of bringing the virus into the country.
Democrats have pushed back against the Trump administration for correctly pinning responsibility on China, arguing it was "racist" to refer to the coronavirus as the "China virus."
Cuomo suggested COVID-19 “infected the northeast” from Europe, but his claims are completely false, according to Breitbart.
Federal officials with the State Department and the intelligence community have said evidence is clear that the coronavirus originated in Wuhan, China, before spreading around the world and eventually to the United States.
On Monday evening, during his speech at the DNC, Cuomo attempted to shift blame away from China to Europe and pin responsibility for the US pandemic on the federal government.
"In fact, [the White House] didn’t even see it coming,” Cuomo said.
"The European virus infected the northeast while the White House still fixated on China.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, since May, has said there is “enormous evidence” that the coronavirus originated in a Wuhan lab.
A month prior, federal intelligence officials confirmed that the coronavirus did originate in China.
"There’s enormous evidence that that’s where this began,” Pompeo said in reference to a Wuhan lab.
"We’ve said from the beginning that this was a virus that originated in Wuhan, China.
"We took a lot of grief for that from the outset. But I think the whole world can see now.”
Cuomo’s assertion that the coronavirus “had been attacking us for months before they even knew it was here” does not acknowledge that the president banned travel from China as early as January.
Democrats blasted Trump's travel ban, even accusing the president of "racism" over it.
Later, in February and March, Trump went on to ban travel from Iran and Europe — both hotspots of the coronavirus at the time.
Most recently, Trump banned travel from Brazil due to its high caseload.
