WaPo 'Fact-Checker' Torched for Claiming Biden 'Didn’t Actually Say' Racist Remarks
Glenn Kessler tries to dismiss Democrat's comments about black community
A Washington Post "fact-checker" has been torched online after he tried to dismiss Joe Biden's racist remarks about the black community, claiming the Democratic presidential nominee "didn’t actually say" the comments.
WaPo fact-checker Glenn Kessler was nuked on social media Thursday for dismissing former Vice President Biden’s offensive gaffe.
Kessler argued Biden "didn’t actually say this," despite video from the interview that arguably proves otherwise.
Aside from the original interview, Biden also later doubled-down on the comments, before trying to walk them back while failing to offer an apology.
Biden was slammed as a racist and a "suspected white supremacist" when he said in an interview:
"Unlike the African American community, with notable exceptions, the Latino community is an incredibly diverse community with incredibly different attitudes about different things.”
The comment was widely considered an inadvertent dig at the African American community.
Biden eventually walked back the comments, claiming he didn’t mean to suggest “the African American community is a monolith.”
But hours before Biden admitted he misspoke, the Washington Post fact-checker was accused of covering for him.
The Twitter account for Team Trump shared the video, paraphrasing Biden’s remarks.
“Joe Biden just said that Latinos have diversity of thought, unlike black Americans,” Team Trump wrote, calling the comment “disgusting.”
Kessler responded, “If you listen to the clip, he didn’t actually say this.”

While Kessler was correct that Biden didn’t literally use the exact words that Team Trump tweeted, he was quickly accused of "lying" to cover for the presumptive Democratic nominee.
“Obviously the Trump campaign will put this in the worst light possible, but I'm curious how you would paraphrase what he is saying,” writer Jeryl Bier responded while another user shot back, "You need hearing aids."
The Washington Post did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Many others took to Twitter to criticize Kessler's defense of Biden:

If you listen to the clip, the hell he didn’t. https://t.co/Vy3RQqgy0k— Eddie Zipperer (@EddieZipperer) August 6, 2020

Dude, you're supposedly a fact checker.— Invisible Constituent (@JustGreggo) August 6, 2020
I listened. He did. Your statement is a lie. Be better.— James ✝️🇺🇸 (@wjamesawill) August 6, 2020

I genuinely do not understand how he can say he didn't say the thing that you can hear him say with his mouth and the sounds that come out of it.— Caleb Howe (@CalebHowe) August 6, 2020
If you listen to the clip, he actually elaborately says it.— Anthony Leonardi (@TonyDLeonardi) August 6, 2020
He contrasts diversity of opinions among Hispanics, citing immigration stances, with what he says is a lack of opinion differences held by those in the black community. https://t.co/F0NW7bVeOA
If a journalist can't even acknowledge that Biden said what he said while he's watching the clip, why the f*ck does he still have a job??— Eric (@EDoubletheu) August 6, 2020
This is more pathetic than the MSNBC guy who said the protests are peaceful while a building burns down behind him. https://t.co/bpSRCwa3s5
For those paying attention, it's as clear as ever that so-called "fact-checkers" exist only to convince the public, rather than inform them.
They have become another useful tool of the left, alongside their allies in the mainstream media.
With the November election just a few months away, the stakes are higher than ever.
The desperation is starting to show.
