Democratic House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-SC) said that President Donald Trump would not leave the White House "peacefully" if he loses the election in November, claiming he will use emergency powers to remain in office.

During an interview with CNN’s “State of the Union," Rep. Clyburn said he didn't think the president plans to “peacefully transfer power.”

“I don't think he plans to leave the White House,” he said.

“He doesn't plan to have fair and unfettered elections," Clyburn added.

"I believe that he plans to install himself in some kind of emergency way to continue to hold onto office.”

“And that is why the American people had better wake up,” he continued.

“I don’t think he plans to leave the White House," Clyburn said.

"He doesn’t plan to have fair and unfettered elections.

"I believe that he plans to install himself in some kind of emergency way to continue to hold onto office,” he added.

The Democrat argued that without a “fair, unfettered election," democracy falls apart.

Clyburn claimed Trump proposed delaying the election last week because he’s “trying to put a cloud over this election.”

The president predicted the 2020 election would be the “most inaccurate and fraudulent” in history.

“Delay the Election until people can properly, securely and safely vote???” Trump asked on Twitter.

Clyburn added:

“This is not a perfect democracy, but it's better than any other that exists."

“And I really feel that the fundamentals are being frayed. And if we are not careful, this country, it will be lost for our next generation, our children and our grandchildren.”

Meanwhile, the Democrats continue to push for mail-in voting despite growing evidence it is open to fraud.

Trump last month warned that mail-in voting could lead to the most "corrupt election" in US history.

The president said mail-in voting could jeopardize the accuracy of the coming November election.

Trump wrote on Twitter:

“Mail-In Voting, unless changed by the courts, will lead to the most CORRUPT ELECTION in our Nation’s History! #RIGGEDELECTION."
