Democrat Val Demings: Trump Invites Foreign Meddling, Willing to 'Cheat to Win'
Remarks come from Joe Biden's top picks for running mate
While the Democrats push mail-in voting in the run-up to November presidential election, Rep. Val Demings, also a Democrat, is accusing President Donald Trump of welcoming foreign meddling and being willing to “cheat to win."
Ms. Demings is one of the presidential nominee Joe Biden's top picks for his running mate, according to reports.
Demings was previously a House manager during the Senate impeachment trial which Trump was acquitted this year.
The Democrat told MSNBC on Sunday that Trump’s America is the, “scariest America I’ve seen in my lifetime.”
“The president is doing everything he can to instill fear, to further divide us as a nation,” Demings said.
“But then remember we’re talking about a president who’s already demonstrated that he will cheat to win, that he will sow disinformation, and does not mind inviting foreign powers to interfere in our elections.”
Biden has also accused Trump of preparing to "steal" the election.

Though Demings focused on Trump supposedly welcoming foreign interference, a claim which the President has repeatedly denied, the federal government China, Iran, and Russia to meddle in politics approximately 100 days from Election Day.
Meanwhile, Biden is expected to select his running mate by next week.
Demings framed Trump’s fear as in stark contrast to what she labeled Mr. Biden’s “plan for the future” involving the coronavirus pandemic and racial justice issues.
The Trump campaign openly disputed Demings‘ claims.
“It was Joe Biden’s administration that knew Russia was trying to meddle in 2016 and did nothing, and now the Democrat Party is pushing universal mail-in voting, which is an invitation for rampant fraud and interference — including by foreign adversaries, who could capitalize on this less secure system and send counterfeit ballots to voters,” said Matthew Morgan, Trump campaign general counsel, in a statement.
Earlier this year, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff declared they needed to remove Trump from office because "he is threatening to cheat in the next election."
Schiff's remarks came before Trump has acquitted in the impeachment trial, so it appears the Democrats of flipping back and forth to desperate strategies and narrative to make sure Trump doesn't win in the 2020 election.
