Biden: Trump is the 'First Racist President' - 'Absolutely Sickening' He Was Elected
Former vice president forgets history with false claims
Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden accused President Donald Trump of being instrumental in the “spreading of racism" during Wednesday's roundtable discussion with the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).
The former vice president went on to say that the way Trump "deals with people based on the color of their skin, their national origin, where they’re from, is absolutely sickening.”
Biden falsely claimed that "no sitting president has ever done this,” as Fox News reported.
“Never, never, never. No Republican president has done this," Biden stated.
"No Democratic president. We’ve had racists and they’ve existed and they’ve tried to get elected president. He’s the first one that has.”
But not only Biden's claims that "Trump is a racist" are provably false, his claims there has been no racists who have served in the office of the United States presidency are also incorrect.
Democratic President Andrew Johnson was regarded as one of the most virulently racist presidents ever to hold office.
Then there was President Woodrow Wilson, another Democrat who re-implemented racial segregation in the federal government.
He also openly used racist and dehumanizing language against Black Americans and publicly sympathized with the Ku Klux Klan.
Wilson even held a screening of "The Birth of Nation," a pro-KKK white supremacist film, at the White House in 1915.
Trump responded to Joe Biden’s outlandish claim noting his many accomplishments for black Americans during his White House press conference.
“We’ve passed criminal justice reform, something that Obama and Biden were unable to do,” the president said.
“I’ve done more for Black Americans than anybody, with the possible exception of Abraham Lincoln, nobody has even been close.”
Trump campaign senior adviser Katrina Pierson responded to Biden's remarks:
“President Trump loves all people, works hard to empower all Americans, and is supported by more Black voters than any Republican presidential candidate in modern history,” she said.
“No one should take lectures on racial justice from Joe Biden.”
The real elephant in the room is Biden's murky racist past.
Biden’s support for a controversial 1994 crime bill has been widely blamed for high levels of incarceration among African-Americans.
Trump called out the former Vice President on the Bill last year.
“Sleepy Joe Biden’s 1994 Crime Bill was a total disaster,” Trump wrote.
“It was mass incarceration for Black people, many of them innocent. I did Criminal Justice Reform, something Obama & Biden didn’t even try to do - & couldn’t do even if they did try. Biden can never escape his Crime Bill.”

Even fellow Democrats criticized Biden over his crime bill, which was signed into law by former President Bill Clinton.
Sen. Elizabeth Warren blasted the bill last August:
"The 1994 crime bill exacerbated incarceration rates in this country, punishing people more severely for even minor infractions, and limiting discretion in charging and sentencing in our judicial system."
