Democrat-Run Chicago Sees Another Bloody Weekend: 8 Killed, 40 Others Shot
There have been zero arrests in connection to the shootings
Chicago has seen yet another violent weekend, with almost 50 shootings resulting in the death of 8 people, under Democratic Mayor Lori Lightfoot's watch.
But according to city officals, there have been zero arrests of any of the shooters.
On Friday, a 14-year-old boy, a 21-year-old man, and a 27-year-old woman had shots fired at them as they stood on a sidewalk, according to WMAQ-TV.
All three were rushed to the hospital, and their condition is still not yet known.
On the same day, an armed man kicked down the door of a first-floor apartment shooting a 60-year-old man in the neck and 23-year-old in the arm, according to police.
The 60-year-old died from his injuries, and the 23-year-old is still recovering at the University of Chicago Medical Center.
Just under an hour later, another three people inside a vehicle were shot.
One was a 20-year-old man who died after being shot in the chest, while the other two aged 19 and 30 survived their injuries.
Just after midnight, a 67-year-old man who was walking on the sidewalk was shot and killed.
Hours later, a group of five people was shot, police said.
A 25-year-old man was hit in the chest and pronounced dead at Mount Sinai, while the remaining four people were injured but survived.
Minutes after that incident, an 18-year-old man was shot while he was driving, causing him to collide with a tree.
He was pronounced dead at the scene after police found him in the wrecked vehicle.
Later the same morning, a 26-year-old man was found lying on the ground with gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead.
On Sunday afternoon, a gunman got out of a car and fired shots at two boys – ages 10 and 11 – and a 27-year-old man, according to Fox 32.
Between Friday and Sunday evening, at least three more people were killed, and 30 others were injured due to shootings.
Lightfoot, a Democrat, said it was Trump's failure to take action on gun reform legislation, which was to blame for the violence.
“We’re doing an all-hands-on-deck strategy, we’re really focussing on the root causes of the violence, but fundamentally we have too many illegal guns on our street, and that is a direct result of a failure of federal leadership,” Lightfoot said.

A week earlier, lightfoot blamed the massive spike in violent gun crime on "too many guns" on the streets.
Lightfoot suggested gun control was the solution.
“That’s a complicated question,” Lightfoot said.
“We have way too many guns on the streets.”
