Far-left Thugs Attack Police Trying To Protect Christopher Columbus Statue
Law enforcement are pelted with bricks and fireworks in Chicago

Law enforcement officials clashed with far-left rioters in Chicago on Friday after police raced to protect a statue of Christopher Columbus, which was at risk of being torn down.
Hundreds of protesters gathered around the historic statue before vandalizing it with graffiti.
Police who were guarding the statue were subjected to fireworks and bricks being thrown at them by the rioters.
A dozen protesters were arrested, according to CBS.
Rioters also blocked an intersection close by from around 9.30 pm as they faced off with police and drove motorists away.
At least four Chicago police officers were taken to hospital with injuries resulting from bricks and other items being thrown at them, according to NBC 5 Chicago.

One video posted online shows the far-left extremists throwing objects at police who were without their riot protective gear.

The news comes a month after Black Lives Matter rioters tore down another Christopher Columbus statue in Minneapolis.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo warned during a speech on the State Department’s Commission on Unalienable Rights that radicals to destroy America’s history in an attempt to indoctrinate people.
“The New York Times’s 1619 Project – so named for the year that the first slaves were transported to America – wants you to believe that our country was founded for human bondage,” Pompeo said.
“They want you to believe that America’s institutions continue to reflect the country’s acceptance of slavery at our founding.”
“They want you to believe that Marxist ideology that America is only the oppressors and the oppressed. The Chinese Communist Party must be gleeful when they see the New York Times spout this ideology,” Pompeo continued.
“Some people have taken these false doctrines to heart. The rioters pulling down statues thus see nothing wrong with desecrating monuments to those who fought for our unalienable rights – from our founding to the present day.”
“This is a dark vision of America’s birth. I reject it,” Pompeo concluded on the matter.
“It’s a disturbed reading of history. It is a slander on our great people. Nothing could be further from the truth of our founding and the rights about which this report speaks.”

Meanwhile, many Democrats are refusing to condemn the destruction.
Earlier this month, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi refused to condemn rioters who tore down Christopher Columbus statue into Baltimore's Inner Harbor.
"If the community doesn't want the statue there, the statue shouldn't be there," Pelosi said.
