Democrats refused to condemn the destruction of historic statues following the death of George Floyd

Almost every Democrat in the Senate has refused to say whether they support statues of George Washington being removed across the U.S.

The only Democrat who pushed back, saying we “should listen to (the) argument," was Democratic Illinois Sen. Tammy Duckworth.

Rioters have destroyed many historic statues following the death of George Floyd and the emergence of Black Lives Matter protests.

Earlier this month, Duckworth, a frontrunner to be the vice-presidential nominee to Joe Biden, said she would be willing to hear out arguments for removing statues of Washington.

“I think we should listen to the argument there,” Duckworth said on CNN.

“But remember that the president at Mount Rushmore was standing on ground that was stolen from Native Americans who had actually been given that land during a treaty.”

Trump signed an executive order to protect America's historic public statues and monuments from being damaged or destroyed

Last month, rioters tore down a statue of George Washington in Portland before draping it in a burning American flag.

Not long after that, rioters in Washington, D.C. set up a new "Black House Autonomous Zone" outside the White House.

While others tried to tear down the nearby statue of former President Andrew Jackson.

Later, President Donald Trump signed an executive order to protect America's historic public statues and monuments from being damaged or destroyed by far-left and anarchist protesters.

"We are going to do an executive order and make the cities guard their monuments," Trump told Eternal Word Television Network host Raymond Arroyo.

"This is a disgrace," the president added.

"Most of these people don't even know what they're taking down."
