House Democrats Move to Impeach AG Barr
U.S. Rep. Steve Cohen of Tennessee files House Resolution 1032
An anti-Trump House Democrat has submitted a resolution calling for the impeachment of Attorney General William Barr on Tuesday.
U.S. Rep. Steve Cohen of Tennessee filed the House Resolution 1032, which accused Barr of pursuing political goals via his role as the nation's top law enforcement officer.
Cohen wrote on Twitter:
“Today, I introduced #HRes1032, which would authorize an impeachment inquiry into Attorney General Barr.“
"He has politicized the DOJ, undermined the rule of law, abused his power, obstructed justice & violated the first amendment. He is not fit to be Attorney General.”

Cohen cited Barr’s role in the Justice Department's decision to alter Roger Stone's sentencing.
Stone was convicted on charges of obstruction, lying to Congress, and witness tampering.
The Democrat also cites Barr's role in the removal of protesters from Lafayette Square in June, prior to Trump's photo holding the bible.
The move comes just five months after House Democrats’ efforts to impeach President Trump failed after he was cleared of two counts of wrongdoing.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi last week said efforts to impeach Barr was ill-advised.
“At this point, let’s solve our problems by going to the polls and voting on Election Day,” Pelosi said, as per The Washington Post.
Meanwhile, Politico reported that House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., called the efforts to impeach Barr as a “waste of time."
But Nadler admitted his committee “may very well” seek to remove Barr.
Justice Department spokeswoman Kerri Kupec blasted calls to impeach Barr, calling it “a political thing.”
“If people have a problem with Bill Barr coming back to the Department of Justice to restore one system of justice, not a two-tiered system, I think that says a lot more about the critics than it does about the attorney general,” Kupec said.
“Because that is what he has done again and again."
“He approaches all cases with an open mind. He judges them according to the facts and the law without regard to political consideration,” Kupec added.
“This is what he promised to at his confirmation, this is what he has done throughout his tenure as attorney general, and that is what he will continue to do until his last day as AG.”
Cohen has since been circulating his resolution in the hopes of attracting support from fellow House members.
The House Democrats who have publicly supported Barr's impeachment include Reps. Rashida Tlaib of Michigan and Bill Pascrell of New Jersey
Last year, House Democrats impeached Trump in connection with a July 2019 phone call with the president of Ukraine.
