Schumer Backs Pelosi Blaming Republicans for George Floyd's Death: 'Fine With Me'
Pelosi faced massive backlash for her comments but has refused to apologize.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer stood behind House Speaker Nancy Pelosi saying he had no problem with her recent remarks accusing Senate Republicans of murdering George Floyd.
Schumer was pressed about the House speaker's comments accusing Republicans of “getting away with the murder” of Floyd.
Schumer responded:
“Pelosi has answered that question herself, and what she said is fine with me.”
Pelosi faced massive backlash for her comments but has refused to apologize.
When the House speaker was asked on NBC News if she would apologize for her comments, she replied, “Absolutely, positively not.”

Just a day after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell set a date to vote on the GOP’s police reform legislation, Pelosi accused the party of murder.
Pelosi received zero push back CBS News Radio correspondent Steve Futterman after her comments.

Pelosi reacted to the Senate Republicans’ proposed police reform legislation:
“The press has given them so much play for this unsalvageable piece of legislation and then say, ‘well, can’t you compromise with that?’ No, it’s because it is no, and we are yes,” Pelosi said.
“So when they admit that and have some suggestions that are worthy of consideration, but so far they were trying to get away with murder, actually. The murder of George Floyd,” Pelosi added.

Mark Whitlock, a National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) senior advisor, blasted Pelosi for her remarks blaming Republicans for Floyd's death.
"That's gotta be the most outrageous thing she's said in at least a few weeks," Whitlock said.
"Genuinely shocked, the Speaker didn't get any pushback after that line as well."
Commentator Stephen Miller also took aim at Pelosi:
"George Floyd was murdered in a city run by a Democrat mayor since 1973, whose police chief was appointed by a Democrat, in a state with two Democrat Senators, and hasn't voted for a Republican President since Nixon.
"Completely insane, she can say something like this unchallenged."
McConnell filed cloture on the Republican police reform legislation but was later blocked by Senate Democrats on a procedural vote Wednesday, with no debate.
