Tennessee police officer was left touched after two African American women paid for his meal, leaving a heartwarming note that transcended the current racial tensions between police and black people amid ongoing protests following the death of George Floyd.

The noted thanked Sumner County Patrol Deputy Jody McDowell for his service, and assured him:

"[Black Lives Matter], but so does yours!"

McDowell posted on his Facebook page Tuesday:

"I want to thank the two sweet black ladies who paid for my breakfast this morning. While waiting for a transport to be completed, I decided to have breakfast at Cracker Barrel near the Nashville airport. I received this note from them."

McDowell said he did not know the ladies' names, but hoped they see his message of gratitude.

The note read in full:

"BLM (Black Lives Matter), but so does yours! Thank you for your service. Breakfast paid."

McDowell said the two women stopped by his table and thanked him for his service before the waitress delivered him the note saying bill his bill had been paid.

McDowell said he did not know the ladies' names, but hoped they see his message of gratitude.

The officer's Facebook post saw comments saying the gesture touched them.

Here are a few of those comments:

"God Bless all 3 of them! I strongly believe that the majority of all people in this country feel the same way. A few bad cops or a few bad protesters make us sad, but they are the few, and most are good, loving people.

The news comes as Democrat-run Los Angeles saw a spike in homicides and shootings amid Black Lives Matter protests and calls from leftist officials to defund the police.

The Los Angeles Police Department reported a 250% rise in homicides and a 56 percent increase in shootings.
