Trump Trolls Biden Over History of Jailing Black Americans
Former Vice President's 1994 crime bill comes back to haunt him

President Donald Trump taunted Joe Biden reminding his voters of the presumptive Democratic nominee's murky past supporting the controversial 1994 crime bill, which incarcerated high levels of African-Americans.
Meanwhile, Biden held a video town hall with Hollywood star Don Cheadle in an attempt to woo African-American voters.
But Trump's tweet put a spanner in the works.
“Sleepy Joe Biden’s 1994 Crime Bill was a total disaster,” Trump wrote.
“It was mass incarceration for Black people, many of them innocent. I did Criminal Justice Reform, something Obama & Biden didn’t even try to do - & couldn’t do even if they did try. Biden can never escape his Crime Bill.”

But even Democrats have criticized Biden over his crime bill, which former President Bill Clinton signed into law.

Last year, U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., called for the resulting from the 1994 bill to be scrapped.
"The 1994 crime bill exacerbated incarceration rates in this country, punishing people more severely for even minor infractions, and limiting discretion in charging and sentencing in our judicial system,” Warren argued.
Warren argued the approach “was wrong, it was a mistake, and it needs to be repealed."
But Biden has pitched a new criminal justice plan that would eliminate the discrepancies in prison sentencing.
Trump has argued he has outperformed his White House predecessors on issues important to African-Americans and other minorities.
U.S. Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., who is African-American, supported Trump's record during an appearance on “Your World with Neil Cavuto.”
“Think about the jobs created,” Scott said.

“Under this administration, we created over seven million jobs. Two-thirds of those jobs went to minorities and to women.”
Trump later posted a Twitter message appealing to African-American voters.
“My Admin has done more for the Black Community than any President since Abraham Lincoln," Trump tweeted.
"Passed Opportunity Zones with @SenatorTimScott, guaranteed funding for HBCU’s, School Choice, passed Criminal Justice Reform, lowest Black unemployment, poverty, and crime rates in history.”

Last month, Biden isolated a large portion of likely black voters after he told host Charlamagne tha God during The Breakfast Club podcast that African Americans "ain't black" if they "have a problem figuring out" if they should vote for him.
The ex-VP, out of nowhere, declared that African Americans "ain't black" if they "have a problem figuring out" if they should vote for him over President Donald Trump in the November election.
"If you have a problem figuring out whether you’re for me or Trump, then you ain’t black,” Biden told Charlamagne.
