Democrat Governors Virtue Signal on Wearing Masks: It ‘Signifies Strength’
Residents now encouraged to wear masks
Democrat governors are urging residents to wear masks in order to stop the spread of the coronavirus, and their sales pitch is appealing to those who want to appear virtuous.
On Tuesday, North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper (D) said, wearing signified “strength.”
“A face covering signifies strength and compassion for others,” Cooper said.
“Wearing one shows that you care about other people’s health.”
Cooper also displayed the opinion on Twitter.
Meanwhile, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) said that wearing a mask was “cool," suggesting he wanted to sign an executive order that said, “Wearing a mask is officially cool.”
“Wearing a mask is now cool,” Cuomo said.
“I believe it’s cool. … Wearing a mask is officially cool.”
Dr. Anthony Fauci told CNN that wearing a mask was a “symbol.”
“I want to protect myself and protect others, and also because I want to make it be a symbol for people to see that that’s the kind of thing you should be doing,” Fauci said.
But Fauci at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic said masks were not effective.
Former Vice President Joe Biden said that wearing a mask was a symbol of leadership.
“What it presents and projects is leadership,” he said.
“Presidents are supposed to lead, not engage in folly, and be falsely masculine.”

Former Senator and political commentator Claire McCaskill accused Trump of not being a “real man” after he refused to be photographed wearing masks.
McCaskill accused the president of making wearing a mask 'political,' while ignoring the fact that Democrats are politicizing the coronavirus and using the pandemic to push through far-left wish lists.
"That somehow, this has been done to him. And he’s never seen his role as someone to protect, to empathize, to be aggressive in terms of safety. Only Donald Trump could make wearing a mask political," she added.
While Democrats like Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam urged residents to wear masks out in public, he was photographed on Virginia Beach with his face on full display.
Northam didn’t see the need to heed his own advice despite being consistent with urging Virginians to cover their faces.
Is this really about the virus?
