Trump: US Schools Should Be Opened 'ASAP'
President urges move to get children back to school

President Donald Trump has said schools throughout the United States need to be reopened "ASAP," as many remain closes due to health concerns from he coronavirus pandemic.
Trump's tweet echoes Fox News' Steve Hilton, who had similar comments.
Trump tagged Hilton and Fox News in a tweet Sunday.
"Schools in our country should be opened ASAP. Much very good information now available. @SteveHiltonx @FoxNews," Trump wrote.
Hilton demanded the need to, "get on with it and reopen schools now before you do even more needless damage."
Although Hilton said the use of masks seems appropriate to stop the virus, he said measures like temperature checks seem to be "totally pointless."
"Only one or two people allowed in an elevator at one time, good luck trying to reopen New York on that," he said.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, warned earlier this month of reopening schools too early.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued an advisory earlier this month regarding potentially severe conditions in children who contract coronavirus.
"We don't know everything about this virus, and we really better be very careful, particularly when it comes to children," Fauci said, according to NPR.
“If this were a situation where you had a vaccine, that would really be the end of the issue in a positive way,” Fauci said.

“But as I mentioned in my opening remarks, even at the top speed we’re going; we don’t see a vaccine playing in the ability of individuals to get back to school this term.”
But Trump disagreed with Fauci:
“We have to get the schools open; we have to get our country open, we have to open our country."
"Now, we want to do it safely, but we also want to do it as quickly as possible, we can’t keep going on like this … You’re having bedlam already in the streets, you can’t do this," Trump added.
"We have to get it open. I totally disagree with him on schools.”
A poll published by POLITICO/Morning Consult found 41 percent of Americans think it's a bad idea to reopen schools this fall, while one-third thought it was a good idea.
