Kayleigh McEnany Shreds CNN's Chris Cuomo Over Dishonest Attack On Hydroxychloroquine
White House Press Secretary slams CNN reporter for hypocrisy
White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany took aim at CNN host Chris Cuomo in response to his recent attacks on President Donald Trump for taking malaria drug hydroxychloroquine.
But Cuomo had reportedly taken another version of the drug, which was less safe when he had the coronavirus.
“You had Chris Cuomo saying, ‘the president knows that hydroxychloroquine is not supported by science," McEnany said.
"He knows it has been flagged by his own people and he’s using it,'” McEnany added, highlighting media attacks on Trump taking the drug that he got from his doctor.
“Well, Cuomo mocked the president for this, and interestingly, I found this out just before coming here, hydroxychloroquine, of course, is an FDA approved medication with a long proven track record for safety,” McEnany continued.
“And it turns out that Chris Cuomo took a less safe version of it called quinine, which the FDA removed from the market in 2006 because of its serious side effects, including death."
"So really interesting to have that criticism of the president.”
For those that haven't seen it yet, here was today's episode of @PressSec @KayleighMcEnany absolutely owning the liberal media. Kristen Welker asked the questions, but among her targets today? As Newsthud reported on Wednesday, Cuomo theorized that Trump might have been talking about taking hydroxychloroquine to distract from the news of the Pensacola shooter being tied to al-Qaeda.
"So our president wants to talk about how strong he is to take hydroxychloroquine because he just does everything he can to make himself strong and make this country strong," Cuomo said.
"And I hope doing whatever he does keeps him strong, science notwithstanding. I know this much, I don’t know that it will help with his health, but it certainly helps to cover up his weaknesses."
"Another day that most of the media wouldn’t be pressing him about never dealing in any real way with how we re-open. And he bought a pass today on a bad piece of news that I bet you probably haven’t even heard about."
"Did you know that the first foreign-directed terror attack since 9/11, foreign-directed, happened on Trump’s watch?"
"We now know the FBI has found an al-Qaeda link to that Pensacola attack last year at the military base. They were able to break the encryption on the attacker’s iPhone."
The CNN host's attacks follow Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who called Trump "morbidly obese," in response to the news he was taking the malaria drug.
Cooper asked Pelosi if she was "concerned" about the president taking the drug.
She replied by claiming Trump's "age group" and "weight group" put him in a high-risk health category.
“He’s our president and I would rather he not be taking something that has not been approved by the scientists, especially in his age group and in his, shall we say, weight group — morbidly obese, they say,” Pelosi told Cooper.
