McEnany: White House Scrapped Obama Pandemic Plan to 'Clean Up the Mess'
White House press secretary take swipe at former President
White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany explained the reason behind the White House's decision to throw out the Obama administration’s pandemic response plan, and she was forthright about it.
McEnany said the Trump administration replaced Obama's plan with a more "robust" pandemic response strategy.
She went on to emphasize they had "cleared up the mess" left by the former President's administration.
McEnany said during the briefing:
“Some have erroneously suggested that the Trump administration threw out the pandemic response playbook left by the Obama-Biden administration."
“What the critics fail to note, however, is that this thin packet of paper was replaced by two detailed robust pandemic response reports commissioned by the Trump administration.”
“In 2018, the Trump administration issued our pandemic crisis action plan … Further, from August 13th to the 16th, the Trump administration conducted the crimson contagion 2019 functional exercise."
"This was a pandemic simulation to test the nation’s ability to respond to a large-scale outbreak," McEnany continued.
“We refilled that stockpile, and we got the N95 masks out, ventilators another good example, not a single American died for the lack of a ventilator,” the press secretary added.
“We have delivered. We cleaned up the mess that was very clearly left by President Obama.”
The Washington Post reported that as of Friday, coronavirus cases in the United States reached 1,435,945, while deaths reached 86,637.

But states like Florida and Georgia have moved to reopen their economies.
Meanwhile, left-leaning states like California are planning to keep lockdown in place until at least June.
Gov. Gavin Newsom said coronavirus outbreak was “opportunity” to push progressive policies in his state.
A Trump administration official said, according to The Daily Caller:
“Consistently the Democrats in Washington and many in the mainstream media have tried to paint the narrative that President Trump and his administration failed to prepare for the coronavirus pandemic, and consistently the evidence shows that under the President’s leadership we’ve responded quickly and effectively to bend the curve, save lives, and care for Americans everywhere.”
Earlier this month, Obama blasted Trump claiming his response to the coronavirus crisis has been an "absolute chaotic disaster."
"It has been an absolute chaotic disaster when that mindset – of 'what’s in it for me' and 'to heck with everybody else' – when that mindset is operationalized in our government."
Trump later responded to Obama's comments in a series of tweets comparing his response to coronavirus with Obama’s Swine Flu response.
“We are getting great marks for the handling of the CoronaVirus pandemic, especially the very early BAN of people from China, the infectious source, entering the USA,” Trump said.
“Compare that to the Obama/Sleepy Joe disaster known as H1N1 Swine Flu. Poor marks, bad polls – didn’t have a clue!”
